We got Vinnie from the cat rescue so we never knew how old he was.they said he was about 6. he had one ear as the other was deformed, we dont know the reason why.He made himself at home as soon as he entetered the home.he was quite a character in his own way,his loud purr and strike of the claw was something never to be forgotten. He attatched himself to Joe my son and they became soul mates.....sleeping with him each night to cuddle up and if Joe moved, vinnie would move up closer till joe had no space left but loving him as he did he didnt mind at all.he never went far from home, just out in the garden then back to bed. That was vinnie all over.then just before xmas he couldnt seem to see and we took him to the vet who told us he had gone blind due to old age and high blood pressure.he was very lethargic and the odds were against him.so we did the kindest thing. He's now resting in the garden where he used to wander.he's missed very much by all who loved him, but has been reunited with Max our lovely dog.

Angel Harps
(by Terri Onorato)

Last night I saw you in my dreams
a brilliant light engulfed your soul.
And through my sleepy reverie
a glorious message did unfold.

The voice was that of angel harps
as you told me of the way
in which the bridge kids celebrate
this extraordinary day.

A radiant warmth ran through me
when you tenderly detailed
a special place I'd never been
where splendid love prevails.

You told me how the bridge kids
hold their paws and pray
for peace on earth, goodwill toward men
on this special, holy day.

Each bridge kid makes a heartfelt wish
to the Keeper of the stars,
they wish each stray a new-found home
without concrete floors and bars.

They ask that every homeless one
the Keeper not forget
for each one has the soul to be
a loyal, loving pet.

I watch you drift away from me
as in early dawn I find
the spirit of your paw-print message
still vivid in my mind.

I hold the message near my heart
and with a smile I hear
a lullaby of angel harps
singing in my ear.

Precious Love

The agony is so great...
and yet I will stand it.
Had I not loved so very much...
I would not hurt so much.
But God knows I would not want to diminish
that precious love...
By one fraction of an ounce.
I will hurt...
And I will be grateful for that hurt
For it bears witness to the depth of my love.
And for that I will be eternally grateful.

Beyond the Rainbow

As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade.
I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.

I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful -- lush and green and wide!
And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be!
My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do.

I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright
That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright Glow pierced the night.
'Twas the Glow of many Candles shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in its brilliant shades of gold.

For although we may not be together in the way we used to be,
We are still connected by a cord no eye can see.
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart.

For Vinnie, xxx.

God saw you were getting tired and a cure was not to be.
So He put his arms around you and whispered, "Come to Me."
With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating, hard working paws to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us;
He Only Takes The Best
